Kids Say the Darndest Things - August Edition

Taken from the sidebar...

After hearing a commercial on the car radio...
Kyle: "Did you know that stress can make you gain weight?"
Me: "Yeah, I've heard that."pause.
Kyle: "Do you have STRESS?!" 8/08

At school, the 1st graders get a "6th grade buddy" and they did a little "About Me" poster together this week with the 6th grader interviewing Haylee. I was surprised to see that Haylee has 2 pets; a HORSE named "Peaches" and a CAT named "Mitch." (SOO NOT TRUE!)
Me: "Haylee, are you having trouble with lying?"
Haylee: "Mooom! I just LOST MY MIND, OK?!!" 8/08

Sometimes Katelyn hasn't been making it to the potty lately, even though she's been trained for almost a year, so we had a talk:
Me: "If you pee in your clothes one more time, you will be put back in diapers!"
Katelyn: "And Brookelle will be put back in your tummy?"
I guess she listened all those times we told her that only babies wear diapers - apparently she thinks ya can't have 2 babies in the same family! 8/08

Random Question of the Week

Why can't grocery stores EVER get the pricing right on the WHOLE purchase and/or manage to include EVERYTHING you purchase in your bags to take home?!??
Seriously, I don't think I've ever gone grocery shopping without one of those 2 errors occurring.

A Semiconscious Summer

Summer's over??? Really?!? When did that happen? It's pretty much been a blur for me! I warned my children that this summer was going to be a very different summer since we were starting it out by having a BRAND NEW BABY! Usually our summer is filled with activities like getting a season pass to some local swimming pool/water park, going on field trips, to the park, to summer movies, attending community events/parades/fairs/plays, running the Farmington Festival Days 5K/10K, going to the Library's special guest appearances, and most recently flying around on JetBlue, etc, etc, etc....NOT THIS SUMMER!

I can't really remember when the days turned to night and then to day again, let alone what went on this summer, but I found some pictures to remind me....

OH YEAH! I was holding the baby...

Nursing the baby...

Changing the baby...

And putting the baby to sleep... (and myself apparently!)

REPEAT...REPEAT...REPEAT...

As for the kids...

Ryan had to play hand-held Yahtzee

Kyle had to draw

Haylee had to "pretend" she was swimming & "practice" anywhere she could

Katelyn took all opportunities to splash & get wet in the bathroom sink since she wasn't at the pool

And then she would change her clothes a couple times a day for entertainment (& because the other ones were WET!)

And we actually opened some ROOK cards that have been sitting in our game closet for a LOOONG time (there was a coupon in the deck that expired in 1998) and used them!

And, as you can see, the kids messed around with the camera taking random pictures, as well!

All I can say is It's a GOOD THING the Olympics were on to give everyone some excitement for a couple of weeks!
But, seriously, I must thank my sisters, Beeb & Michelle for letting my kids come stay & play for several days. And my Visiting Teacher, too, invited them over to hang out and even fed them lunch - they were in heaven! Plus, my friend, Shawnette did take them once a week to the movie or her "home theatre" or to the park. So, thanks for doing all that, so the summer wasn't a TOTAL FLOP! :)

Where did it go? I'm still in shock - I missed it!

OK, OK - I'll do it!

So, I may be the last one out there without a blog, but I was "just not ready for that kind of commitment!" Heck, I can't even commit to reading the Twilight books (or the Harry Potter books before that, or The Work & the Glory books before that, or to see the Star Wars movies episodes) like the WHOLE rest of the WORLD, so WHY would I be able to make a commitment to blogging?!? Is it a wonder I got married if I have such commitment issues?!? :)I've been getting pressure from all angles to do it...and I guess this means I'VE CRACKED!
Thanks to my "coolest" friend, Mandy, for setting it all up for me! (I've agreed to always refer to her as that now!)
When I was trying to think of a name for our Blog, I was brainstorming some "B" names and I thought I came up with a great one, "The Brenchley Braves" in honor of the BEST High School there ever was - The Bountiful Braves - (don't send me your nasty comments you VHS-ers!) but other certain members of my family quickly vetoed that one OUT of the universe, so we are "The Brenchley Brood!"
So, I'd love to hear from y'all - go ahead and leave your comments because if you think about it, viewing my blog without commenting pretty much means you could be one of those freaky STALKER dudes, right?!?
